You've landed the interview. Now make it count.
Being well qualified does not guarantee a strong interview. Under pressure, even experienced professionals can struggle to select the right examples and communicate their contribution clearly.
Interview coaching helps you understand what the employer is assessing, choose the strongest evidence from your experience and present it with clarity and confidence.
Whether you have an important interview coming up or have reached interview stage several times without receiving an offer, preparation starts with identifying what needs to improve.
Employers are not assessing your experience in isolation. They are deciding whether you can perform this particular role, solve the problems they need addressed and operate at the level required.
Strong candidates can still miss out when their answers are too broad, too technical, short on evidence or unclear about the contribution they personally made. The challenge is recognising which parts of your interview performance are weakening your case.
You may know your work deeply but still find it difficult to decide what the interviewer needs to know, how much context to provide and which results matter most.
This can lead to answers that are accurate but unfocused, overly detailed or unclear about the value you bring. More practice will not fix that if you are practising the wrong things. Effective preparation identifies the messages, evidence and examples that will help the panel understand your relevance to the role.
Interview preparation starts with the specific role. We analyse the job description to determine the stated and implied selection criteria and understand what the employer is likely to consider most important.
We then identify the examples and evidence from your experience that best demonstrate those priorities and develop them into clear, relevant answers.
If English is not your first language, or you find it difficult to express your experience clearly in an interview, we also work on phrasing, clarity and delivery. The aim is to help you communicate what you mean naturally and effectively.
You complete a realistic mock interview based on the role. For more senior or complex positions, the process may include additional mock interviews to refine your answers and strengthen your performance. You receive video recordings of the mock interviews, written feedback on your strengths and weaknesses, and practical recommendations for improvement.
I’m Peter Mazzucato, founder of Pillentum. During 20 years in recruitment, I saw how employers assess candidates, compare their evidence and decide who gives them confidence that they can perform the role.
Experienced professionals do not usually struggle because they lack worthwhile experience. They struggle because their answers contain too much background, do not make their personal contribution clear or fail to connect their experience with what the employer needs.
My interview coaching focuses on that connection. We examine the role, select the strongest evidence from your career and practise communicating it clearly under realistic interview conditions. You receive direct feedback on what is working, what is weakening your answers and what needs to change before the interview.
The aim is not to memorise polished answers. It is to understand what the employer needs, select the right evidence and communicate it clearly under pressure.
Go into your next interview knowing what you need to communicate and how to communicate it.
Bailey had reached the second-interview stage several times without securing an offer. After a couple of focused interview-coaching sessions, he felt much more confident and went on to secure a Senior Business Analyst and Scrum Master role with a large energy company.
“After my position of business systems analyst with a large mining company was made redundant, I sought help in reviewing my overall job searching strategy. I had made it to the 2nd interview on a number of occasions but was unsuccessful. I became concerned that my technique was letting me down.Â
Peter worked with me through a range of interview techniques. After just a couple of sessions, I was a lot more confident when my next interview came up which had a big impact on the outcome.
I am now working as a Senior Business Analyst/Scrum Master with a large energy company. I have no hesitations recommending Peter to anyone who needs help with their job search strategies and interview techniques “
